Moral Hazard Resolved by Common-Knowledge in S5n Logic
نویسنده
چکیده
This article investigates the role of common-knowledge in the principal-agent model under asymmetric information. We treat the problem: How the common-knowledge condition will be able to settle a moral hazard problem in the principal-agents model under asymmetric information. We shall propose a solution program for the moral hazard in the principal-agents model under asymmetric information by commonknowledge. Let us start that the agents have the knowledge structure induced from a partition relation associated with the multi-modal logic S5n. In particular we consider the situation that the agents commonly know all decision values of the other agents. Under certain assumptions we shall show the moral hazard can be resolved in the principal-agents model when all the expected marginal costs are common-knowledge among the principal and agents.

Three formal approaches to public knowledge are “any fool” knowledge by McCarthy (1970), Common Knowledge by Halpern and Moses (1990), and Justified Knowledge by Artemov (2004). We compare them to mathematically address the observation that the light-weight systems of Justified Knowledge and ‘any fool knows’ suffice to solve standard epistemic puzzles for which heavier solutions based on Common...
متن کاملTotal Public Announcements
We present a dynamic epistemic logic for knowledge change of rational agents. Existing approaches only deal with partial public announcements, that means an announcement may lead to an inconsistent state. We introduce an extension of the multi-modal logic S5n featuring total public announcements where an update cannot result in an inconsistency. We also study total public announcements in the c...

What is public information in a multi-agent logic of knowledge such as Tn, S4n or S5n? Traditionally this notion has been captured by common knowledge, which is an epistemic operator Cφ given roughly
متن کاملA Spectrum of Modes of Knowledge Sharing between Agents
The logic S5n is widely used as the logic of knowledge for ideal agents in a multi-agent system. Some extensions of S5n have been proposed for expressing knowledge sharing between the agents, but no systematic exploration of the possibilities has taken place. In this paper we present a spectrum of degrees of knowledge sharing by examining and classifying axioms expressing the sharing. We presen...
